Entropy Evolution of the Gas in Cooling Flow Clusters
We emphasize the importance of the gas entropy in studying the evolution of cluster gas evolving under the influence of radiative cooling. On this basis, we develop an analytical model for this evolution. We then show that the assumptions needed for such a model are consistent with a numerical solution of the same equations. We postulate that the passive cooling phase ends when the central gas ...
متن کاملRadio Galaxies in Cooling Cores
A currently active radio galaxy sits at the center of almost every strong cooling core. What effect does it have on the cooling core? Could its effect be strong enough to offset the radiative cooling which should be occuring in these cores? In order to answer these questions we need to know how much energy the radio jet carries to the cooling core; but we have no way to measure the jet power di...
متن کاملthe effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends
flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...
Cold molecular gas in cooling flow clusters of galaxies
The results of a CO line survey in central cluster galaxies with cooling flows are presented. Cold molecular gas is detected with the IRAM 30m telescope, through CO(1-0) and CO(2-1) emission lines in 6-10 among 32 galaxies. The corresponding gas masses are between 3.10 and 4.10 M . These results are in agreement with recent CO detections by Edge (2001). A strong correlation between the CO emiss...
متن کاملThe New Emerging Model for the Structure of Cooling Cores in Clusters of Galaxies
New X-ray observations with XMM-Newton show a lack of spectral evidence for large amounts of cooling and condensing gas in the centers of galaxy clusters believed to harbour strong cooling flows. Here, we explore these diagnostics of the temperature structure of cooling cores with XMM-spectroscopy. We further find no evidence of intrinsic absorption in the center of the cooling flows of M87 and...
